This is, without a doubt, the most popular question this time of year from students who have already sent in their early action application. Since early September, students applying early action have been preparing and submitting their applications for admission. Nearly 12,000 students have submitted their early action application to UVM for the fall.
We notified our first group of early action applicants on November 10. Approximately 3,200 students received notification from us – we celebrated with them! Who received notification on this date? It was a group of students whose applications were complete, and whose applications made through our processing and review prior to November 10. There was not a system to this – and it also means that the remaining 8,800 early action applications remain under active consideration.
Our next decision notification will be on Wednesday, December 14. Students are notified on their application status portal (logging in using the “95” number that was sent in email soon after the application was received). Decisions are live there as of 5 pm ET on that day. Students will also receive a letter indicating a decision – either admit, defer to regular admission or deny.
What is the greatest barrier to receiving a decision on December 14? An incomplete application! We send periodic reminders to a student’s email address if their application is incomplete. Students can check their status anytime at the application status portal. Supporting information that has been received is located there, in addition to the items missing. Students should take action soon in order for those missing items to be sent. Early Action applicants are also encouraged to send us their 1st quarter/trimester grades – these often help us in the review process.
My application is complete…when will I hear? On December 14. Thank you for making sure that your application is complete!
