After a summer hiatus, it is good to be back, not only to share more about our new students who began their UVM careers today but also to gear up for the Class of 2018’s admissions process. Soon many of the high school seniors in New England will return to school (while many of the seniors in other parts of the country have been in school for nearly three weeks!) This is an exciting time for those parents who just dropped on their sons/daughter at college, as well as those students who are high school seniors and thinking about their next steps after high school.
UVM’s Class of 2017 is a remarkable group of students, numbering nearly 2,500. They are joined by approximately 400 transfer students who now call UVM their academic home. A highlight of the class can be found on our website – the class is one of the largest in UVM history, they hail from 41 states and they have chosen UVM because they are attracted to the academic offerings, our size and our unmatched location in Burlington. They moved in on Friday and celebrated the start of their academic career at opening Convocation.
In admissions, we are very excited to be working with the next class of students interested in the University of Vermont. We saw thousands of students and parents visiting campus this summer. I look forward to writing more about the admissions process for the Class of 2018, sharing information and tips about the process at UVM and answering questions that students and parents may have about the process.
Our new students have finished their first day of classes at college. It won’t be long before we will be welcoming the Class of 2018 on campus. Until then, I look forward to taking the journey together.
